Love to garden but don’t own any land?
Want to meet and socialize with other gardeners?
Already have a garden but want to share your knowledge/skills?
Interested in workshops to learn new skills like composting and mushroom cultivation?
Then join the NEMI Community Garden!
With support from the Manitoulin Community Fresh Food Initiative (MCFFI), NOPRI has built a community garden in Little Current. Membership is free and open to the public (though we recommend a small donation).
How it works: Modeled after European allotment gardening, each member gets a 240 sqft plot or 32 sqft bed to care for themselves (to plant, maintain, and harvest). The community will provide help, resources, and education such as shared tools, space in a greenhouse for starting plants, and workshops to teach gardening skills. Please see the garden guidelines for more info.
