Connor Davis
Connor is the sustainable energy guru of the team. With a Bachelors in Sustainable Energy Engineering and industry experience at Ottawa Solar Power, Connor is versed in solar energy installations ranging from small off-grid solar bath houses to large rooftop mounts. Connor has spent 2 seasons as a full time permaculture intern at Manitoulin Permaculture, focusing on natural building projects and energy systems, while moonlighting as a front end web designer. An avid gardener and a self-proclaimed breakfast enthusiast, Connor enjoys woodworking projects, playing guitar, and designing tiny houses (among other things).
Jaime Rowntree
Jaime earned her permaculture design certificate in 2011 in the headwaters of Caledon at Whole Village Ecocommunity. She has furthered her studies in a forest gardening and herbaculture mentorship at The Living Centre. Since then, Jaime has continued to be captivated by the world of edible, medicinal, ethnobotanical, and utilitarian plants and their abilities to remediate ecosystems. Jaime is experienced with outdoor and indoor commercial organic operations. She now has a place to practice and is spearheading the gardens for a second year at Manitoulin Permaculture. She is residing as a winter resident, studying mycology and growing soil for the coming season.
Shane O’Donnell
Shane is a tutor, self-taught programmer, farmer and electronics hacker who is passionate about decentralizing energy production, teaching sustainable farming practices, and observing and deriving inspiration from natural patterns. Originally from Montreal, Shane earned his Bachelor or Renewable and Sustainable Energy Engineering from Carleton University in 2014. Afterwards, he spent 2 years as a permaculture intern at Manitoulin Permaculture and is now a permanent resident. On top of designing and automating NOPRI’s greenhouse climate control and data logging system, Shane is currently in the early stages of creating a community mycology lab and hosts Friday night board games at the Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation’s tutoring center.
